  • Basic Underdress and Tunic Drafting. Basic pieced style Drafting of early period pieced- style underdress or tunic. Learn how to conserve fabric and make a well-fitted garment.   • Chess Variants. Three types of chess will be taught: classic Chess, Chess of the Four Seasons, and Shogi. No charge and no limit for the class, but handouts limited to 20. [Instructor: Johannes Drechseldt]
  • Detached Buttonhole Stitch. The detached buttonhole stitch was used in the Elizabethan era as an easy fill stitch that gives a raised three dimensional effect to the embroidery. This stitch was used for floral and leaf motifs. There is a kit available with handout with no fee, however there are only 5 kits available. The class will last one hour.   • Gawain and the Green Knight. A prose performance of the tale as it might have been told before that blasted poet got his hands on it. The performance will be followed by a discussion of the process for taking written source material (a 2,500-line poem) and turning it into a storytelling performance.   • How to make a Roman drawstring money pouch. Attendee’s will make a drawstring pouch like one found at Barger-Compascuum in the Netherlands. Material for 8 ,any are welcome to watch.   • Medieval Surgery 101 – A lecture covering some of the history of surgery and techniques used. Some graphic pictures in the handout. Ages: 12+, parental supervision required under 16. [Instructor: Baroness Colette du Pré]
  • Middle Eastern Drumming – Beginning and Intermediate. Class topics will be based on student experience, but typically include one or more rhythms with variations. This allows beginners to practice the basic rhythm while intermediate students learn more advanced variations. Ages: All. [Instructor: Madog Barfog]
  • Morris Games. Teaching the basics of 3-Men’s, 6-Men’s, 9-Men’s, and 12-Men’s Morris, with plenty of time to play the games and ask questions. No charge and no limit for the class, but handouts limited to 20. [Instructor: Johannes Drechseldt]
  • Norse Apron Dresses. Study of the various styles of apron dresses from Norse finds. Not a hands-on class. Discussion of style types and constructions. $2 for large handout. [Instructor: Lady Fritha Eikbrandrsdottir]
  • Norse Women in Russia. Learn about the Norse Women (and men too) that traveled East into the Rus Lands. We will be discussing similarities and differences in clothing and jewelry. We will also be discussing the interactions with the Slavic peoples and the influence it had on what became the Rus people. Ages: 13+. Handout: Yes, $0, donations accepted but not required.   • SCA 101. This class teaches newcomers about the history and structure of the Society for Creative Anachronism. How did the SCA begin? What is a laurel?   • The Great Chain of Being. Want to think more like a medieval person? Learn one of the fundamental assumptions of Middle Ages Europe. Dressing and fighting like a medieval person is fun, but learning to think like one can be an even greater challenge. Learn one of the “everybody knows” ideas of medieval European culture: the Great Chain of Being.
