Twilight Tournament 1: Double Elimination-Style Bear Pit
  • Runtime: 30 minutes
  • All weapon styles allowed
  • Each bout will consist of a maximum of 3 passes. The best 2 out of 3 passes wins the bout.
  • Fencer must leave the bear pit after winning 2 bouts.
Twilight Tournament 2: Beware the Grue!

The Grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth with insatiable appetite. Its appetite is only tempered by its fear of light. Other than the torch in your hand, it is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a Grue.

  • Each fencer will be equipped with a “torch” – a length of PVC with a paper flame taped to the end. The torch must be carried in the fencer’s hand and visible to their opponent at all times; no hiding it behind your back, nor behind a shield, cloak, etc.
  • A fencer may wield the torch in the same hand as another weapon or parrying device, as long as the torch remains visible and the fencer can demonstrate that they can fight safely with the additional encumbrance.
  • The next fencers on deck act as spotters for the fencers currently fighting.
  • The bout otherwise occurs as normal, unless the fencer’s torch is extinguished. The torch can beextinguished by one of the following:
    • The fencer drops their torch, or loses the arm that holds the torch (no switching)
    • The paper flame is separated from the torch by a thrust or a draw cut.
  • If a fencer’s torch is extinguished, the spotter will yell “flame out” or “torch out” or something to that effect, and start a ten-second countdown, out loud.
  • The fencer with the unlit torch MUST kill his opponent within the ten-second countdown or they will be eaten by the Grue.
  • If the fencer with the unlit torch manages to put their opponent’s torch within the 10-second countdown, both fencers die with no points.
  • Scoring:
    • 1 pt. Winning by traditional means (i.e., stabbing the other guy/gal)
    • 2 Pts. Winning by Grue
    • 3 pts. Winning with an unlit torch
Northern Oaken Championship Tournament
  • Any authorized rapier combatant that currently resides in Northern Oaken may participate.
Body Parts Tournament
  • Runtime: 45 minutes
  • All weapon styles allowed
  • Multiple lists may be run, if we have the marshals and space
  • The goal is to collect a hit from one of each body part: Head, Torso, Left Leg, Right Leg, Left Arm, Right Arm, for a total of 6.
  • Each bout is one pass. The winner of the pass reports which body part they collected (i.e., shot to  the head, torso, left arm, etc.). Even if you already collected that body part, report it to the list anyway.
  • First participant who collects all 6 body parts wins. If time runs out and nobody has collected all 6 body parts, the fencer who won the most passes wins. In the event of a tie, the final 15 minutes will be used for a tie-breaker.
Novice Tournament
  • Runtime: 60 minutes
  • Open to any authorized rapier combatant that has been authorized for less than 2 cumulative years, and has no Kingdom-level award.
  • This is a standard round robin tournament. All weapon styles allowed.
