  • Archery Equipment Inspections – This class will cover how to inspect both main forms of bow and all the materials bows are made of. This class will also cover the three areas of marshaling. Inspection, range set-up and range operation. There will also be a brief discussion on the necessary paperwork. (Instructor: Forester James Barkley)
  • Basic SCA Cordial Making Round Table – Discuss the basics on how to make period style cordials for modern SCA tastes. (Instructor: Baroness Zuriel Nightshade)
  • Baltic-Style Pickup Weaving – Baltic-style pickup weaving involves specific patterning and weaving techniques to create a distinctive narrow woven band. This workshop will focus on how to create a pattern using the techniques and materials specific to this type of patterned weaving and how to warp it onto a loom of any type. Graph paper and pencils/colored pencils will be provided for creating patterns. Participants may bring a loom (inkle loom, tape loom, box loom, small rigid heddle, belt loom) to practice warping and weaving after the patterning is complete. 2 hours.   • Brief History About Finnish Iron Age Spirals and How to Create a Spiral Apron – Sit in on a brief history about bronze spirals, which were found in Iron Age Finland, and see how they can create a spiral decorated apron. (Instructor: Duchess Siobhán inghean uí Liatháin, Aethelmearc)
  • Combat Archery Beyond the Basics – This class will review the basics, but will go on to cover situational awareness and tactics. Combat Archers who want to learn the next levels of combat awareness, this class is targeted for you. Melee season is coming up, let’s make the Archers of the Dragon Army the best that we can be.   • Copyright Laws in the S(C)A – What is copyright and where did it come from?  What’s covered and not covered by copyright?  What about Fair Use – we’re an educational non-profit, so it’s all OK, right?  (Wrong!) How can we protect ourselves from getting sued for copyright infringement? (Instructor: The Honorable Lord Brendan O Corraidhe)
  • Detached Buttonhole Stitch & Elizabethan Braid – This is a one hour class first half hour for the braid the second for the buttonhole stitch. Limited 5 students, materials are included along with handout. This class will look at Elizabethan embroidery and feature these two stitches we will look images of sweet bags, caps and coifs to see these stitches utilized and I will show different materials used for each stitch.   • Introduction to the SCA – This class teaches newcomers about the history and structure of the Society for Creative Anachronism. How did the SCA begin? What is a laurel? How many kingdoms are there and why is that guy wearing spurs? Find out the answers to these and many other questions. Free handout; open to all ages. (Instructor: Lady Jolicia atte Northclyfe)
  • Novgorod/Hedeby Pouch – Make a circle or semi-circle pouch like one from viking age (found in Hedeby, Denmark) and Rus times (Novgorod). The style used from at least viking times throughout current day. Class for 5. Ages 14 and up. Class fee $5. (Instructor: The Honorable Lord Oliver Stillman)
  • Skomorokh: The Comedic Minstrel Theater of Russia – With an unbroken lineage spanning more than six centuries, learn of the skomorokhi, the oft persecuted minstrels, buffoons, harlequins, musicians, and puppeteers of the medieval and Renaissance Russia. (Instructor: Lord Niccoló Bartolazzi)
  • Viking Embellishments – Looking for ways to spruce up your Norse clothing? This one hour class will give you ways to embellish your clothing without costing a fortune in silks and wools. Full color handouts available for 10 people. (Instructor: Viscountess Ísgerðr Gulkárr)
