Class Title: How to make a period draw string money pouch

Class description: Money pouches are common throughout history, with similar designs used since at least Roman times. 3 Basic variants will be covered; square, round and multipart. Participants will make a drawstring leather money pouch based on archaeological finds described/illustrated in “Purses in Pieces”. If you lucet, feel free to bring a 24 inch drawstring of your own, otherwise a plain drawstring will be provided. Depending on the style being made, hand sewing experience is beneficial. Materials for 10, but feel free to come and watch. Ages 12 and up, supply fee of $5.

Class Title: Commedia all’Improvviso: a Roundtable Discussion

Class description: Let’s talk shop on the improvised slapstick comedic theatre of the Italian Renaissance. From intro to history to characters to adaptation for a modern SCA audience, we’ll improvise the discussion based on what you want to talk about.

Class description: If you’ve ever needed a cheap and easy way to make a necklace try kumihimo. By the end of the class you’ll have the skills and supplies to make a necklace to either keep, give away or enter into an A&S competition. Four foam kumihimo discs will be available for $5.

Class description: Many of you have enjoyed an afternoon at the Kavehane with Crazy Llyw and Lady J. In this class we talk about the “whys” and “hows” of the Kavehane, and provide some guidelines to start your own franchise!

Class description: Okay, so the fleece isn’t ALL grey but now that I have your attention, come and fondle samples of fiber from around the world from my A&S 50 project. I’ll talk about differences in sheep fiber, plus you will get a list of some of my favorite sources.

Class Title: Scribal Techniques 201: Shading and Drapery

Class description: This is a hands-on practicum on shading starting with simple shapes and moving into complex shapes like acanthus leaves and then drapery techniques if there is time. Class description:Tired of paying $7 to White Labs for every batch of beer, wine, and yeast. Want to by a strain of yeast once and never again? In Culturing Your Own Yeast we’ll cover the basics of yeast culturing. We’ll cover sterilization, slanting, making starters from slants. In addition to covering the academia of the subject matter, class participants will create their own slants as part of class. Supply fee of $2.

Class description: When storytelling by song married the printing press, human rights, politics, gossip and yes, sex, got a whole new platform. This class is an overview of who wrote the ballads, sold the songs and provided the fodder for a tradition that survives to this day. *MATURE CONTENT; ADULTS ONLY*
