Craftsperson's Faire
You are cordially invited to display your work in a Craftspersons Fair style display. The display will encompass not only period projects, but also items that are "medievaloid" or SCA culture items. If you have a nifty ice cooler cover, carved wood or leather items, or some other project that is cool, useful and beautiful but not strictly period, you can show it off here. No documentation is required -- although we will ask for your name and a brief description of your work. If you do have documentation, we’d love to see it!
The guidelines:
  • Works in progress are fine. No more than 5 items per person can be displayed.
  • The faire will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items must be picked up by 5 p.m. Space will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A corner of the room will be set aside for artisans who want to knit, spin, bead, sew, embroider and so on. Space is limited, so please don't bring anything bulky, messy, or that uses an open flame.
  • The populace is encouraged to bring tokens to show their appreciation for the talent of the Midrealm.

Bardic Activities

The Magic Carpet Kavehane, northern Oaken's finest bardic Persio-Nordic coffeehouse, will land at A Regular Event in the Cleftlands: The Fourteenth Warrior, January 21, 2012.

Join us for a delicious cup of Persio-Nordic coffee or a sweet, all for the price of a tune, a tale, a song or a dance.

In addition, the Kingdom Bardic Champions are hosting a challenge to the populace at each event they attend with Their Majesties. For the Regular Event:

In the movie The Thirteenth Warrior - an often-accurate depiction of the clash of cultures (Persian, Norse, Neanderthal?) - Viking warriors are inexplicably dressed and armed in stuff from throughout our period and across Europe.

With this event we turn it up to 11! Er, 14!

Bring us a wildly anachronistic tale (song, dance, piece of music, juggling act, etc). For example, play a Gregorian chant on recorder; do a Middle Eastern Dance in Viking garb; sing the tale of Beowulf to the tune of Greensleeves. We don't want to make this TOO easy, so the only time period which is off limits is the modern era, and the only subject you can't use is the SCA itself.

Join us at the Kavehane between 1 and 2 pm to present your tale and receive a Fabulous Token of our Esteem.
